You've created your masterpiece presentation that will knock out the competition. You've stored and shared it in Salesforce ContentExchange. It's now in the system where your colleagues can search for it very easily. But what happens when you need to update the content? How can you keep everybody in sync so that nobody is using an outdated version?Salesforce ContentExchange makes sure everyone is on the same page by making it easy for you to replace old versions and by alerting users of new versions that are created. Often, when you create a new version of a document, the old version is lying around on your hard disk, a LAN or in your email. Worse yet, it is sitting on the computers of many of your colleagues.
Salesforce ContentExchange has an intelligence solution to this problem. Because we store a "document identification" inside of every document, Salesforce ContentExchange knows when you upload a new version to the system. We intelligently guide you to replace the old copy on the system - even if you forget it was there. We don't delete the old version - we just make sure that people don't accidentally download it thinking that it is current.
But we go a few steps further. Everybody who has subscribed to that document is automatically alerted that a new version exists. Even if they haven't subscribed for an automatic alert, the next time they open the old file on their laptop or attach it to an email, we can tell them that a new version exists on the system. We can do this even when they are not connected to the Internet! Document IDs are stored locally so that Salesforce ContentExchange will know the next time they open old files, and alert them.
But wait, there's more! No, not a Ginsu knife. How about when you've updated a slide in a PowerPoint presentation with current customers' numbers, financial figures, or the management team and you need it to be refreshed in every presentation that has this slide in it? Salesforce ContentExchange can tell you which presentations had a copy of a given slide so that you can replace dozens of files, all at the same time.
